A year of a lot of firsts. I started working at Twitter, so Hatching Twitter seemed like a must-read. After reading Seveneves, I got hooked on science fiction. My partner and I watched all of Star Trek The Next Generation, and I gained a new appreciation for the show.

I read so many books! The Three Body trilogy was the standout series of the year, totally changing how I feel about space exploration. Keeping the sci-fi thing going we watched most of Star Trek Deep Space Nine. DSN has become my favorite Star Trek installment.

This year was dominated by playing lots of DanceDanceRevolution at the local Dave & Busters. What an incredible year for video games. We played and loved Super Mario Odyssey and Persona 5 (160 hour save file!). Best new discoveries were My Hero Academia and Terrace House.

Fiction reading ticked back up this year. We discovered the anime, Gintama, which is the absolute perfect blend of comedy and drama. In the fall, I read 902 chapters of One Piece and caught up just before chapter 1000’s release. I also played over 300 hours of the fantastically timed Animal Crossing New Horizons.

2021 felt like a continuation of 2020. I started going on mental health walks and listening to even more podcasts. Favorite finds of the year include Tokyo Revengers, Maintenance Phase, and Disgraceland. I finally watched The Matrix.

A strong focus on mental health this year which meant more fun and less obligations. I read less books and more manga. In an effort to cook more, I started watching a lot of YouTube cooking channels. My husband and I watched all of Seinfeld, and now pop culture makes more sense.

This was a slow year of self-reflection, unlearning, and relearning. I read a lot of fiction and began watching a TON of YouTube. My husband and I watched the entire Sopranos series and as a result found ourselves craving pasta often. I spent more time than I want to admit on my phone scrolling social media and TikTok. A problem to solve for next year.
